Understand a market before your next move.
A focused research engagement that turns scattered information into a clear, decision-ready view of a market, industry, company, or competitive landscape, without you spending weeks collecting and interpreting it.
Typical engagement: 1–3 weeks
Is this for you?
An Insight Brief is probably the right fit if you’re:
- exploring a new market or category
- sizing up competitors or emerging players
- preparing for an internal strategy discussion
- evaluating a business opportunity
- trying to understand an unfamiliar industry quickly
- sitting on fragmented information without a clear conclusion
You don’t need a formal research brief to begin. A question as broad as “Is this market worth looking at?” can be turned into a structured set of research questions before any work starts.
What you’ll get
A concise, executive-ready brief, built around the questions that matter to your decision and kept short enough to act on.
Depending on scope, it may include:
- executive summary and key findings
- market overview and key trends
- competitor landscape and company profiles
- consumer, channel, or regulatory analysis
- strategic implications and questions worth monitoring next
- a source appendix, with important claims traceable to where they came from
Delivered as a focused PDF brief or presentation deck, followed by a readout session if you’d like one.
What I take off your plate
Rather than handing over a folder of links and statistics, I manage the whole process from question-setting to synthesis:
- Research planning: defining the decision context, scope, key questions, and information gaps
- Desk research: company disclosures, government and industry sources, market reports, academic research, and reputable media
- Competitive analysis: mapping players, positioning, business models, pricing, distribution, and strategic moves
- Expert research, when needed: sourcing and interviewing industry professionals where public information falls short
- Synthesis: separating signal from noise and connecting findings into a coherent view of what’s happening, and why it matters
How it works
1 · Frame the decision. A short discovery call to clarify not just what to research, but the decision it needs to support. I share a written research scope before we begin.
2 · Build the source base. I gather the most relevant primary and high-quality secondary sources, keeping important claims documented and traceable.
3 · Test against the evidence. As findings develop, they’re checked against contradictory evidence and remaining gaps — and I flag where a targeted expert interview or paid source would strengthen the answer.
4 · Synthesize and deliver. The research becomes a concise, executive-ready brief: key findings, patterns and contradictions, areas of uncertainty, and implications for you.
Optional extensions
- Expert interviews: when a key question can’t be answered reliably through desk research, relevant professionals can be sourced and interviewed. Fees are quoted separately and approved in advance.
- Interactive Brief: for research that needs to stay usable after delivery, selected projects can become a searchable database, dashboard, or intelligence portal, built with a trusted development partner.
The details
A standard project includes initial scoping, a written research scope, the research and analysis, the final deliverable, one consolidated revision round, and clarification or factual corrections for 14 days after delivery.
Engagements are priced by scope rather than by length. The initial scoping conversation is free, and we agree the questions and the deliverable before any work begins. Any external cost (expert fees, paid data) is always discussed and approved beforehand.
Requests that materially expand the agreed market, company set, or research scope are treated as additional work.
Why work with me
Because a market brief is only useful when the research holds up and the conclusion is clear.
I bring together two things that usually live in different people: the research discipline of B2B market intelligence and the craft of editorial storytelling — across Korean and English.
- Editorial and journalism background
- Experience in B2B market intelligence and research for cross-border markets
- Native-level Korean and English — work adapted for each audience, not translated word for word
- Comfortable working directly with executives, founders, and specialist material
The result: research that holds up, and writing people actually read.
Have a question worth investigating?
You don’t need a formal brief to get in touch. Send me the question you’re trying to answer, what you already know, and the decision you need to make.
